Manly men, listen up! A bag has become an essential item for getting around Austin.
Why do men need a bag? Bags are for women, right?
Hear me out—bags can serve a purpose for men. The average Austinite either works North and lives South, or vice-versa; therefore, he usually needs to schlep around items to use at work and to workout or go out to happy hour after. How do you manage to keep all of your stuff together without looking out of place? The man bag is the answer.
It can be leather, cotton, or even hemp. This should be a bag that you can throw a laptop or a pair of sneakers in. It should be heavy duty on the bottom, yet washable. You might even luck out and find you a bag that can act as a lunch bag, laptop case, and gym bag. Score! I personally like a cotton bag with leather pockets. I take my bag into meetings for work or to the cafe. It acts as, literally, my right hand man.
I have visited New York City, and the men there get the bag, and they love the bag. They know having a man bag can save time and, sometimes, even the day.
Most Austin men have extra nightly activities where they may visit a friend, yet have to be at the office early. The man bag can hold a pair of drawers, toothbrush, and floss. Don’t worry, this won’t make you look like a fly-by-night guy but, rather, it makes you look like a prepared gentleman who takes care of himself by bringing a bag with cleaning products. Trust me, ladies and men alike love that. This bag can actually help you in that department by making you come off as organized and on top of your game.
I visited a store called Forever 21 in the Domain recently. Now, I know you might think that Forever 21 is a women’s store but, in fact, it is a unisex store. I haven’t seen such a great, cost-effective store since H&M in New York City.
I spotted a bag that was black, sporty, and could double as hefty duffle bag. I choose this one because I can fit clothes and shoes in it, without damaging my laptop. Regardless, whether hitting the greenbelt or the Domain, you will be ready to go! Have a good time and enjoy your new man bag this summer.By Josh Garza
