Ricardo Arjona Captivates Crowd at the Frank Erwin Center

Ricardo Arjona blew the audience away with a great show at the Frank Erwin Center on Saturday. The crowd, mostly female, was treated to some of his new material and sang along with the artist on some of his older songs like “Desnuda” and “Mujeres.” Arjona, without a doubt, continues to make women swoon with his rich voice and poetic lyrics.

“He seems to be very in-tune with females, and that is incredibly sexy,” Carmen Tinajero, a 50-year-old fan said.

Arjona continuously engaged his crowd, told stories and asked questions. The rapport gave the concert an intimate feel.

The set was a replica of a subway station and added to the mood and ambience of his new CD, Adentro. Adentro is politically charged with lyrics touching on the current administration in the United States and illegal immigrants. The song “Mojado” (wetback) drew roars of approval from the Hispanic crowd and many stood from their seats and danced to accordion rhythms. Another song, “La Nena,” (The Girl) shed light on the kidnappings of children in Latin America. Arjona passionately performed this song from within a cage and captivated the crowd.

After his farewell, Arjona was very gracious and returned to the stage twice at the request of the crowd. He will be back in Texas on August 27, at the Dodge Arena in McAllen. I highly recommend this concert.
