Infamous radio host and Doctor, Laura Schlessinger apologized to her listeners yesterday after dropping the N-Bomb several times on her show. During her radio talk show, Schlessinger said Ni**er more than 11 times in an attempt to make a point about the use of the controversial word. In conversation Tuesday with a black female caller who was complaining about her white husband’s racist friends and their use of the word, Schlessinger said: Black guys use it all the time. Turn on HBO and … [Read more...]

The Souvenir Menu: Why Guero’s is still one of Austin’s best

10:35 am by admin Leave a Comment

It seems strange to write about a restaurant that is so popular that further compliments just seem redundant, but my relationship with Guero’s Taco Bar on South Congress Avenue is a bit different. For decades now, Guero’s has been a frequent but temporary cure for home sickness. I moved to Austin from South Texas in the 1980’s to attend the University of Texas and, over the years, work and busy schedules have made trips home fewer and farther between. Though I keep in close contact with my … [Read more...]

Debra Lehrmann for Texas Supreme Court Place 3

8:25 am by admin Leave a Comment

The Texas Supreme Court does not have the level of child protective service (CPS) and family law experience that is necessary to handle these critically important cases.  Having served as a family law judge for over 22 years, my election would fulfill the need for a jurist with this type of experience. No other candidate in this race has this type of expertise. My 22 years of service as a judge is almost double the amount of judicial experience of any other candidate in this race. The type of … [Read more...]

Bill Burton for Texas Land Commissioner

8:22 am by admin Leave a Comment

I am Bill Burton and I am running for the Texas Land Commissioner's Office because, its time for politics as usual to stop.  Our Public School Fund is being treated with total disregard.   Its time to put our schools and colleges back on the priority list.  As Land commissioner I will work to see that the revenue generated from the oil and leases and from the renewable energy resources are not mis-directed.  I will be accountable and responsible to the people I serve, "You". I will … [Read more...]

Daniel Bradford grew up mostly in small-town Ohio, finished high school in Brazil, and now lives in East Austin, where he's lived for the last ten years. Having lived in Brazil and in the United States, Bradford knows firsthand the difference that responsive government makes in the lives of a country's citizens. I am running to be your judge of the 299th District Court because I believe in public service and I believe in justice. Bill Gammon for 147th District Court Judge

8:08 am by admin Leave a Comment

After representing the residents of Travis county for over twenty two years, both as a Plaintiff and Defense attorney, I have now decided to run for Judge in the 147th District Court.During my years as an attorney, I have witnessed far too many proceedings that have not involved the kind of fairness and adherence to the law that I feel is merited in a courtroom.  Justice is every citizen's birthright. To accept less goes against my values and runs counter to the principles upon which our legal … [Read more...]
