Austin Tequila Fest benefiting the homeless coach

Austin Tequila Society presents “2nd Austin Tequila Fest”: An Evening of Tequila tasting, fun, food and music on November 4th, 2011 from 7pm to 9pm at Casa Chapala (101 San Jacinto, 78701). Guests and members of Casa Chapala’s Austin Tequila Society will vote for their favorite tequilas from among many distilleries represented to challenge the palate.

Over 45 tequila selections will be on hand for the top three to receive “Austin’s Favorite Tequilas of 2011” and then compete for the “All Star Favorite Tequila”. This event will benefit Homeless Coach, and organization that helps connect homeless enrollees to members from our community over shared Austin-area original food and fun while streaming live interactive video/chat/geo-location to the global internet.

The social networking for homeless reached by the program help lift them off the streets into shelter with a purposeful life aligned with their gifts & talents while promoting businesses that contribute to the cause. The Austin Tequila Society, founded by Casa Chapala Mexican Grill and Cantina, is a community of tequila aficionados and lovers-of-agave who gather to enjoy tequila in its many forms even as a delicious base to traditional cocktails (Margarita, Mexican Martini, etc.).

Guests of Tequila Fest will taste Blancos, Reposados and Añejos, searching for their favorite tequila plus dozens of tequilas such as Patrida, Baluarte, and Don Julio, as well as popular local brands like Ambhar and Republic. Once the top three tequila brands are determined by attendees depositing their ancient Mayan coin into the appropriate vessel with the most coins have been determined to be “Austin’s Favorite Tequilas of 2011”, then these flavors will compete for the “All Star Favorite Tequila”. Three tequila aficionados and enthusiasts who are flying in from different USA locations will judge the three winners of the “Austin’s Favorite Tequilas of 2011” to find the “All Star Favorite Tequila” winner.

Judges include: Bob Wolter of www.tequilatracker.com, better known as “Tequila Bob’s”, after being introduced to a 100% agave brand in 2000, he was determined to get educated on the subject and become a self-described passionate tequila enthusiast. He shares his educational journey into different brands of tequila, old and new, on the internet.

The Queen of Tequila of www.queenoftequila.com is the first American individual awarded a diploma from Consejo Regulador del Tequila, the prestigious entity ruling tequila in the world andfirst American woman to receive a Tequila Connoisseur certification from the World Tequila Conference. In the center of Guadalajara during a 16 September Celebration, her tequila comrades crowned her their “Tequila Queen”!

She travels in her Queen of Tequila Mobile across the country following her passion of tequila and visiting her amigos in Mexico. Self-proclaimed “enthusiastic amateur,” Kelly Cash of www.tequilaneat.com experience tasting tequila is beginning to border upon professional and has tasted/rated well in excess of 500 different tequilas.

In addition to learning about various tequila options, guest will enjoy live music by the Jonas Alvarez Band and tasting soirée of delicious small bites of Casa Chapala’s favorite interior Mexican cuisines. Tickets include 10 tasting tickets to sample from vendors and off-menu tastes of interior Mexican cuisine, live music, prizes and lots of fun.
