Double Portion ready for inspirational summer series conference

Gospel R&B recording artists James Roy and John Troy Jacobs, from Double Portion, begin their empowering summer calendar at the South Park Inspirational Concert Series starting Sunday, June 27, followed by the 9th annual Hero Project youth and young adult conference.

South Park Inspirational Concert Series is a free event at the Grove on the last Sunday of each summer month, starting June and ending August.  “The artists were either hand-picked by Double Portion because of their visibility in the community and authenticity of ministry, or people in the community requested many of them!,” said John Troy Jacobs. “South Park Inspirational Series is going to be awesome this year. You do not want to miss it!”

The theme of the South Park Inspirational Series is “Music that brings Hope”. This relates to Double Portion “because that is the premise of our ministry, to bring hope to not only the saved, but also the unsaved, that God is real and he really loves you no matter what,” said Jacobs. “Every year we want to give back to the community and this is how we give back.”

The shows will feature the best Gospel from the area and have church tunes from contemporary to Hip Hop Gospel. Featured artists for the series are Darrius O’Connor, Cheryl Lee B.L.U.E., Charles Seafous, Josh Caldwell, Peculiar Image, E. Mayor, Saul Paul, Chris Spivey, and New Destiny.

Double Portion is the founder of the 9th SWAG (Shamelessly, Wrecklessly, Advancing a Generation) Youth and Young Adult Conference and this year it will run August 6th through the 8th. Double Portion selects a different life changing theme every year for their Hero Conference. This year, the theme is empowering and motivating young people to take action! There will be a HERO social to open up the conference and a Celebration with National Gospel Artist. Guest can expect to hear R&B and soul sounds of gospel singers Deitrick Haddon, Damita Haddon, and Kierra Sheard.  There will be classes available during the conference guaranteed to motivate and cause youth to take action.  This year is projected to be phenomenal and estimated to bring in up to 400 participants.

The City of Austin announced a proclamation on June 10 for Double Portion, who performed in City Hall chambers. “It is truly a blessing and God’s Favor!” said Jacobs.
